Zebra Hai/Zebra Shark

Unser Sharks and More Tauchplatz ist wirklich einzigartig.

Nicht nur das wir dort zu fast 100%iger Sicherheit auf Graue Riffhaie treffen. Hin und wieder haben wir zusätzlich sogar noch andere Haie dort, wie z.B. den Zebrahai.

Der Zebrahai (Stegostoma fasciatum) wird auch oft als Leopardenhai (Triakis semifasciata) bezeichnet, da sein Farbmuster eben ehr dem eines Leoparden gleicht. Rein wissenschaftlich handelt es sich aber um 2 komplett verschiedene Hai Arten.

Not only that we have nearly always big grey reefsharks there.

Sometimes there are other kinds of sharks too. Like yesterday we now and then come across of a Zebra Shark resting motionless on the sea floor. The Zebra Shark (Stegostoma fasciatum) is often miscalled as Leopard Shark (Triakis semifasciata) but frankly – they are two completely different families. I guess the misscall is happening because the pattern of a zebra shark resembles more a leopard than a zebra.
