Eid al – Adha

Das Opferfest ist neben dem Fest des Fastenbrechens am Ende des Ramadan das höchste islamische Fest. Dieses Fest wird zum Höhepunkt des Haddsch, der Wallfahrt nach Mekka, gefeiert und dauert 4 Tage. Es kann zu jeder Jahreszeit stattfinden, da es sich immer um meist 11 Tage verschiebt. Dieses Jahr ist das Fest vom 3.10. – 6.10. Zur Feier des Festes wird ein Tier geopfert, meist ein Schaf oder eine Ziege – natürlich aber niemals das als unrein geltende Schwein. Das Fleisch des Tieres (oder auch Geld für ein Opfer Tier) wird unter den Armen verteilt, sodass an diesem Tag jeder eine Mahlzeit bekommt, die Fleisch enthält.

The Feast of the Sacrifice is one of the two most religious holidays celebrated by Muslims. The festival starts at the end of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, and takes four days. It can take place any time of the year because it is always defer by about 11 days. This year the festival is celebrated from 3.10. – 6.10. In celebration of the day it is custom to sacrifice an animal, usually a sheep or goat, of course never a pork which counts as impure and dirty. People share the meat or also give money to enable poorer members of their local community to eat a meat-based meal.
