Eid Mubarak

Heute beginnt das 3 tägige Fest des Fastenbrechens – auf Arabisch Id al-Fitr. Dieses Fest markiert das Ende des Ramadan. Es beginnt mit einem besonderen Festgebet. Danach beglückwünscht man sich gegenseitig und wünscht sich Eid Mubarak, was so viel bedeutet wie „gesegnetes Fest“. Was dann folgt ist ähnlich unserem Weihnachtsfest. Feiern, Essen, Familie, Geschenke, Besinnlichkeit. 

Für die meisten Muslime zählt dieses Fest zu den wichtigsten Feierlichkeiten des Jahres.

In diesem Sinne: Eid Mubarak!

Today the 3 days Feast of Breaking the Fast starts. It’s called Id al Fitr. This festival marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.

It starts with a special prayer, followed by wishing each other a Happy Eid or Eid Mubarak to be continued with lots of joy, food, family time, presents, decoration and celebration. It’s comparable to our Christmas Time. For most Muslims it is the most holy and important time of the year.
