Eka  (Gede Eka Swastika) is one of our youngsters and since the end of 2011 he is working with us. For financial reasons, he had to stop his school education and participated as “boy for everything” in a restaurant with an attached dive shop in order to help support the family.
As for us interest and eagerness to work matter more than grades, Eka got the opportunity to learn from the ground up – and he has taken his chance: he speaks good English, is very popular as a guide and always in a good mood. Conversation with the guests for him is not only small talk, he’s really keen to learn all about life in western countries.
Surely he also would like to travel to such a distant country one day, but that has to be earned. As he is newly married, other things have priority anyway. His goal? Clearly set:  “I would like to become a divemaster!” Well then, let’s go!
