Jaya (Ketut Jaya) works for us since 2008 and has learned from “Chief-Captain” Gede how to drive boats. Today he is a good captain too, who always does his work quietly and besides he is always helpful to the guests. It was his wish from childhood to be a captain, but initially, for lack of a suitable training place, he worked as a fisherman and later even as a driver of trucks.
However, he does not like driving our pick-up car, which is confusing to him because of the “long nose”. And definitely a big fiberglass boat is incomparably better!
Jaya generally does not speak very much, also not a lot of English; but he understands more than you might think. Sometimes it lets appear a small smile on his face.
He has always lived with his wife and son in Pemuteran, soon another little family member will join.
