Galungan
Alam Anda – 19. 2. 2020
Galungan – most important holiday for Balinese Hindus, which celebrates the victory of dharma over adharma (the victory of good over evil). It is a celebration to honor the creator of the universe and the spirits of the honoured ancestors. Galungan occurs twice a year in the 210-day cycle of the Balinese calendar. It marks the time of the year when the spirits of the ancestors are believed to visit their former homes, and the current inhabitants, who welcome them with rituals, prayers and offerings. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan, when spirits leave earth. For this celebration Balinese install the penjor – bamboo poles by the side of roads.
Selamat Hari Raya Galungan!
