Ghost Pipe Fish
Alam Anda – 12. 2. 2020
Masters of disguise – Solenostomus paradoxus, also known as ghost pipefishes, false pipefishes or tubemouth fishes. They are related to seahorses and pipefishes and are regularly found in tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific. These animals grow up to 15 centimetres, float almost motionlessly, with the mouth facing downwards and are almost impossible to see. They generally live in shallow waters between 5 – 30 meters and we can often find them near crinoids or feather stars. They are extremely seasonal and are mostly found only a few months of the year.
