Elphinstone
Blog Oasis – 05.11.2020
The Elphinstone Reef is one of the highlight divespots in the southern Red Sea. It is located approximately 9km offshore directly in front of our diveresort. Around 1830 it was discovered and named after John Elphinstone. The reef is 600m long and several hundred meters deep and is famous for its biodiversity. At this time of the year, there is a high chance to see an oceanic whitetip shark or to spot even a hammerhead down in the blue. The reef itself with its corals and fish is also mindblowing. Because of the strong currents, this divespot is not recommended for beginners and requires a certain amount of experience in diving. Thanks a lot for the pictures, Ebrahim Hamdy!
