Ein Treffen mit Lini – A meeting with Lini

Diese Woche haben Bettina, Paul und Nyoman stellvertretend für das Alam Anda an einem Treffen mit der Non-Profit Organisation LINI in der Junior High School Tejakula teilgenommen. LINI hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Erhaltung und Bewirtschaftung der Küstenmeeresressourcen auf nachhaltiger Basis in ganz Indonesien voranzutreiben. Gebaut wird dafür auf einen Dialog zwischen Fischern, Einwohnern und Hotels. U.a. werden in Schulen, wie auch in Tejakula Kurse abgehalten, um Schüler für das Thema Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit zu sensibilisieren um eine Veränderung des Bewusstseins zu bewirken. Zusätzlich wird intensiv mit Partnern, wie das Alam Anda, vor Ort zusammengearbeitet, um die Riffe vorlaufend zu schützen. Neben der Erörterung von Problemen stand an diesem Tag vor allem die praktikable Umsetzung im Mittelpunkt. So wurde eine einfache und kostengünstige Idee zur Kompostierung und Schutz vor Überschwemmung vorgestellt. Abschließend wurden detaillierte Gespräche über ein geplantes Riffprojekt an unserem Hausriff geführt. Dieses soll bald in Angriff genommen werden. Wir hoffen weiterhin auf spannende Treffen und gemeinsame Projekte mit dieser engagierten Organisation.

This week Bettina, Paul and Nyoman Sudiarti took part in a meeting with the non-profit organization LINI at the Junior High School Tejakula. LINI focuses on the development of community-based marine conservation areas to promote sustainable fisheries in Indonesia and conserve coral reefs. Among other things, the permanent dialogue between fishermen, residents and Hotels is an important task. Courses are held in regional schools to sensitize students and change their minds towards pollution and the consequences. Moreover the intensive cooperation with local partners, such as Alam Anda, is a main target to protect the reef consequently. Besides the discussion of general marine problems the meeting was focused on practical realization. A simple and inexpensive idea for composting and protecting areas from flooding was presented. Finally, there were detailed discussions about a planned reef project at Alam Anda house reef, which is planned to be realized by the end of the year in addition to another reef project which Alam Anda plans to install in the near future. We hope for more exciting meetings and joint projects with this dedicated organization.
