Krake / Octopus

Wir haben in letzter Zeit viel über die ganz grossen Fische geschrieben – Mantas, Mobulas, Walhaie,..
Klar das die Begegnung mit solchen immer wieder ein grossartiges Erlebniss ist das man mit anderen teilen möchte. Aber es gibt auch noch anderes hier auf Medufushi zu finden. Wenn man ein bisschen genauer schaut und ganz langsam am Riff entlang taucht findet man ganz sicher auch einen Oktopus, auch Krake (Cephalopoda) bzw. Tintenfisch genannt. Der Oktopus ist vielleicht nicht ganz so eindrucksvoll wie ein Walhai aber sie sind aufgrund ihres hochentwickelten Nervensystems, die wohl intelligentesten Wirbellosen Tiere. Er hat viele verschiedene Art und Weisen sich zu verteidigen: natürlich ist da zum einen das Ausspritzen von Tinte (daher der Name Tintenfisch), zum anderen aber auch das verändern von Farbe und Oberfläche der Haut, sodass er genau so wie seine Umgebung ausschaut. Er ist ein absoluter Tarnungskünstler! Weiterhin kann er bei drohender Gefahr einen kräftigen Rückschub erzeugen und sich dadurch blitzschnell vorwärts bewegen.
Die Natur ist einfach unglaublich! 😀 :yes:

We have been talking a lot recently on this blog about pelagics and big fishes like Mantas, Mobulas, whale sharks and so on! Obviously when something like that come accross our divers it´s always a great moment to share with others.
But there is more than big fish in Medhufushi, if you are looking carefully, swimming slowly, you might be able to spot an Octopus. The Octopus (cephalopod) might be less impressive than a whale shark but they are very intriging animals.  The Octopus is very smart and have many ways to defend themselves when they feel threaten:
expulsion of ink, the use of camouflage and Visual displays, their ability to jet quickly through the water, and their ability to hide. It is quite funny to look at an Octopus trying to hide from you, using various different colors to try to camouflage and adapt themselvves to the surrounding!!
