Medhufushi unter Tsunami Warnung / Medhufushi on tsunami warning
Für viele war es das erste mal; Tsunami Warnung auf den Malediven. Ausgelöst durch ein schweres Erdbeben vor der Küste Sumatras. Natürlich waren viele Gäste sehr beunruhigt. Wir wussten jedoch schnell, dass es sich dabei um ein horizontales Beben handelte, und nicht wie 2004 ein vertikales. Die Chance auf eine Flutwelle war verschwindend klein. Dennoch ging man auf Medhufushi auf Nummer sicher und setzte den Evakuierungsplan um. Alle Gäste versammelten sich entweder am Pool, im Restaurant oder an der Bar. Alles andere als ein kleines Handgepäck mit Passport oder Identifikation musste zurück bleiben. Gegen 18.30 Uhr kam dann die Entwarnung. Da die Bar eh schon voll war, entstand daraus ein grosses Fest…For many it was the first time; tsunami warning in the maldives. Triggered by a massive earthquake off the coast of Sumatra. Of course many guest were worried. But we knew very soon, that it was a horizontal earthquake and not a vertical like 2004. The chance of a tsunami was very, very small. Even though, to be on the save side, Medhufushi set the evacuation plan. All guest gathered either at the pool, restaurant or main bar. All laguage was left behind expect a small carry on bag for passport or identification. At 6.30pm the warning get cleared. And since the bar was full anyway, big celebration started.
